VOLUME 5 of The Great Release Project

Become 12 was the result of taking the Deadmau5 electronic music MasterClass and applying the discussed techniques and methods, from starting with a central place of stored ideas to draw from, to mastering.

In late 2016 during a break, I took my Moog Voyager out of storage and began putting down ideas, using Ableton Live as the DAW.  I was on a Cher residency in early 2017, and started putting together the project in a National Harbor AC Hotel room during days and evenings off.

As Joel’s MasterClass suggested, EDM titles don’t matter, so I found an online random word/phrase generator in order to make them.  The only ones that I developed on my own were Charminator, combining the two words given, “charming” and “terminator,” and Snow Queen, which was written at the time with my Kazakh girlfriend in mind, as that was one of my nicknames for her.

The album was created using stems of the Voyager, and later adding Arturia and native Logic plug-ins.  This is the first instrumental album I had created since Bumper Music in 2010.

Thanks to my awesome sons James and Alex, my family, friends and road crews from gigs all around the world.
